CCGA 3rd Place Finish at UGA

Classic City Golfers Larry Craig, Horace King, Mack Benton and Quinton Pentes won 3rd Place at the First Annual Athens Athletic Hall of Fame Tournament, sponsored by Champions Foundation. The tournament was held at the UGA Golf Course, Athens Georgia. The tournament will provide an opportunity for the former inductees and others to come together to fellowship and enjoy a round of golf for a worthy cause. The proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Athens Athletic Hall of Fame and youth sports programs in Athens and surrounding areas. Over 60 gofers were participating in this years event and many of the NFL players, such as Bo Jackson were present.  Below, Tyrone Davis is displaying his New York Giants, 1986 Super Bowl and 1984 NCAA National Championship rings.

CCGA President Charles Owens, (below) is removing his ball from the cup, after scoring an Eagle on the 6th hole. His Eagle was scored from a 147 yard shot from the right side the fairway. Charles reported, “I didn’t know if the shot had gone into the hole, but from the noise on the course, I know something good had happened”.

CCGA golfers were not intimidated by the fame on the course, today. “We had a great time, met some great people and good golfers, said Horace King. We are looking forward to next years event.”

CCGA Golfer Win First Place

Congratulation CCGA golfer, Larry Craig was the first place, 3rd flight winner at the Electric City Golf Association (ECGA) Annual Tournament. The Tournament was held at Cobb Glen Country Club, Anderson, SC. on May 3-4, 2014. Larry had shot a combined two day score of 96-74=170. ECGA was the host to over 90 golfers at the annual event.
